Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 / AET Level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification
- Ability to read and write
- At least 1 year of porter experience in a hospital environment (advantageous)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles
- Ability to work well in a team
- Capable of working under pressure
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles
- Escort walking patients from reception or casualty to wards and other service areas
- Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers
- Support nursing staff with transferring patients between wards
- Deliver patient files and medical documents to relevant departments
- Transfer deceased patients from wards to the mortuary and assist with placement
- Clean and maintain porter equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers)
- Report damaged equipment and ensure proper handling
